Whether you're exploring Goa solo, with your best mate, or partner, opting for a backpack is highly recommended. Goa offers incredible diversity, from sandy beaches and lush jungles to bustling markets, sunny paddy fields, and secluded hidden islands waiting to be discovered. A backpack allows you to navigate off-the-beaten-path tracks, maneuver through crowded areas effortlessly, and hop on trains, tuk-tuks, or motor taxis while keeping all your belongings secure and close at hand.




Goa Checklist


Most Important:

  • Government-approved ID | passport & valid visa (if visiting from abroad)

  • Driver's license (international license required if visiting from abroad)

  • Waterproof pouch to keep your passport & documents safe

  • Emegerncy Contact Information

  • Reusable water bottle to stay hydrated, save money & avoid plastic waste

  • Personal medication, if needed

  • Sunglasses


Seasonal:

  • Raincoat & backpack rain cover (monsoon)

  • Sunscreen, sun hat & hand fan (for sunny season)


Electronic Devices:

  • Phone

  • Phone charging cable

  • Headphones

  • Powerbank (if needed)

  • Laptop & protective bag (if needed)

  • Camera and protective bag (if needed)

  • small Flashlight, if needed (useful for exploring off-the-beaten-path tracks).

Universal adapter: While most of Goa uses the Type C Europlug and doesn't require an adapter for most foreign devices, having a universal adapter might be handy if you plan to visit other states across India.



Clothing:

  • Comfortable & light clothing for tropics

  • Beachwear for sunny days

  • Something warm for cool evenings & long drives

  • A light scarf for sun protection / as cover-up at the beach

  • Non-slip flip flops or comfortable walking shoes

  • Hat or cap for sun protection

  • Daypack / small bag for day trips

  • Laundry bag: Keep your dirty clothes organized and separate from your fresh clothes

Tip: Keep it simple! You can find many options at markets, boutiques & second-hand shops. Keep some space for souvenirs. And yes, you can get your dirty laundry washed at The Funky Monkey Hostel!


Toiletries:

  • Travel-size sunscreen

  • Solid shampoo & soap (perfect for traveling!)

  • Hair conditioner (great for managing long hair in humid weather!)

  • Travel-size deodorant

  • Fast-drying towel

  • Toothbrush & toothpaste

  • Mosquito repellent

  • Travel-size hand sanitzer

  • Traveler's first aid kit (antiseptic cream, pain relievers, personal medications)

  • Female toiletries (if needed)

  • Shaving kit (if needed)

  • Moisturiser (if needed)

Tip: You can find all these items at local shops throughout Goa. Consider sharing basic items like shampoo with your dorm mates to save space and make friends!


Additional Items:

Earplugs and Eye Mask: Great for ensuring quality sleep, especially in shared dorms.

Body-worn pouch: Ideal for keeping your essentials secure while dancing & moving around freely.
